Levity The Stratus Chair and a Half Review

Since moving to New York, I’ve been trying to elevate my apartment and make it feel like home — all while thinking about my cats and what they might like in the space. I used to own the sweetest (and very old) armchair, which I found on the side of the road, and it became my trusted reading-nook companion. I wanted to keep the chair, but my designated “reading space” was itching for an update. I am always looking for comfortable furniture that accommodates my two little furry friends. Enter the Stratus Armchair and a Half ($849) from Levity. The large lounge chair boasts high comfort that is low maintenance with stain-proof covers and machine-washable upholstery, so I had to put it to the test — enlisting my two cats as well.

What I Like about the Stratus Chair and a Half

First and foremost, I love the way this accent chair looks; it’s chic, elegant, and a nice color, and it fits into any aesthetic. I went for a classic off-white color, but there are 10 other colors to choose from too. This armchair comfortably seats two people — or, in my case, me and my two cats. The material isn’t too soft or too rough, but rather a perfect middle ground. I add a throw blanket on top to give it more texture and a cozy vibe.

The best part? The removable cushion covers are machine washable — just zip them off and toss them in the washing machine. My kitties love sleeping on it, and they inevitably shed like there’s no tomorrow, so having an armchair that’s easy to clean and maintain is a major plus point. Another notable aspect is how genuinely easy it was to assemble. Although I did not have much floor room, I fixed it up myself. The tools arrived in the underbelly of the chair, and all I needed was a screwdriver and some good ol’ elbow grease. The cats supervised, of course.

What’s Worth Noting About The Stratus Chair and a Half

The Stratus Chair and a Half has a firm base and soft cushions, so it’s easy and comfortable to sit on, but after a while, it might be better to switch to an ergonomic chair that’s more supportive. Use it as a place to relax rather than the place you WFH.

The size fits perfectly in my designated nook, but if you’re looking for a chair that can fit into a smaller apartment or prefer something less bulky to save space, opt for the regular-size chairs from Levity. The armchair’s 41.3-inch width definitely takes up a chunk of space. Initially, I wanted to rotate it and put a plant behind it to green it up, but due to its size, I had to adapt and let it sit snugly to the wall.

If you have pets and are not up for the constant upkeep of light-toned upholstery, consider getting this in a darker color since it’s more forgiving and you won’t have to clean the cushions that often.

Who Is the Stratus Chair and a Half For?

The Stratus Chair and a Half is best for people who want to elevate their small space that’s both stylish and comfortable. Plus, since it’s easy to clean up, this is a durable option for those with pets or children — aka anything or anyone that can make a mess.
